For approximately 40 years, RCA has offered first-class expertise in the treatment of diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous to patients across five Phoenix Metro clinics and two ambulatory surgery centers. An additional 25 satellite offices enable RCA to provide care in medically underserved areas.

“This partnership will combine the strengths of RCA’s specialty focus in retina with the formidable platform of AVP to help us deliver the best ophthalmology care in the nation,” said Dr. Derek Kunimoto, co-managing partner of RCA. “We are all committed to clinical excellence for our patients, increasing access to care, and providing our employees with opportunities for personal and professional growth. We share the common vision of building the leading ophthalmology practice in the Southwest and beyond.”

“We are very excited to partner with the RCA team as we continue to develop a premier network of medical and surgical eye care services in Arizona and throughout the Southwest,” added Kyle A. Bohannon, President & CEO of American Vision Partners. “Through this partnership, RCA patients will benefit from the most robust infrastructure in the industry, which aligns with the exceptional care provided by the RCA physicians. These collective efforts will also accelerate the growth of RCA’s leading clinical research practice, which will benefit from a combination with AVP’s patients, physicians, and clinics.”

“It is very exciting to expand the AVP retina practice through this partnership with such high-quality and well-respected physicians,” said Jordan Graff, MD, of Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center. “The RCA doctors will be great additions to our current team of AVP retina specialists.”

Dr. Scott Perkins of Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center Is First in Arizona to Implant Alcon’s Acrysof IQ PanOptix Trifocal IOL

PHOENIX, ARIZ. (Sept 3, 2019) – Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center, an American Vision Partners affiliate, is the first practice in Arizona to provide a new solution for patients with presbyopia following the recent FDA approval of Alcon’s Acrysof IQ PanOptix Trifocal IOL.

Alcon has paired their Acrysof IQ Intraocular Lense (“IOL”) with a proprietary design from PanOptix. With this breakthrough technology, the new trifocal lens will allow cataract and refractive lens exchange surgeons to correct for their patients’ immediate, near and distance vision.

“We are proud to bring this new class of IOLs to the largest eye care market in the world,” said David J. Endicott, Chief Executive Officer of Alcon.

FDA approval was based on results from a study of 12 investigational sites in the U.S. “With this single trifocal lens design, PanOptix patients demonstrated exceptional, uninterrupted vision. The results also showed high patient satisfaction with more than ninety-nine percent of PanOptix patients saying they would choose the same lens again.” (1)

Dr. Scott Perkins, MD, a Founding Partner of Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center, will be the first eye surgeon in Arizona to perform surgery using the new lens. “We are extremely proud to have Dr. Perkins perform the first surgery in Arizona utilizing this incredible new lens. One of the fundamental tenets of our practice is providing our patients with the most advanced technology options for improving and preserving their vision,” said Kyle Bohannon, President & CEO of American Vision Partners.
