Kevin Chen, MD, joined Vantage Eye Center in 2018. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of California Los Angeles as Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. He received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at New York University Langone Medical Center and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, where he was chosen as chief resident and was recognized for academic excellence. He also practiced global medicine in rural Guatemala, performing cataract surgery for patients without access to eye care. Following residency, he moved back to California to train as a fellow in vitreoretinal surgery and disease at the Shiley Eye Institute at the University of California San Diego. During the fellowship, he held an appointment as Clinical Instructor at UCSD and as Staff Physician at the San Diego Veteran’s Administration Hospital, where he was directly involved in resident clinical and surgical training.
Dr. Chen is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He has presented at numerous national conferences and has published his research in prestigious journals such as American Journal of Ophthalmology, Survey of Ophthalmology, and Retina.
