Ophthalmic Assistant (Back Office Medical Assistant)

Overview
As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you’ll be responsible for preparing the patient for the exam with the doctor. You’ll gather important medical information from the patient, perform preliminary tests, and gather measurements while providing highest quality of care and an exceptional patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Welcomes patients and visitors with a positive, warm disposition
- Keeps doctors’ rooms filled to ensure clinic patient flow
- Obtains patient histories through intake assessments, making note of findings in EHR
- Performs visual acuity, auto-refraction, manual and automated lensometry, Goldmann and Tonopen tonometry tests and keratometry on patients
- Checks pupils, extra-ocular muscles, confrontational fields and inserts eye drops for dilation
- Runs diagnostic tests such as Immersion A-scan, OCTs and Visual Fields
- Administers color vision, depth perception and Schirmer’s tear testing as needed
- Assists in minor office procedures (lasers, excisions, etc.)
- Educates patients on ophthalmic conditions and consent for procedures and surgery
- Maintains exam rooms, including cleaning/sterilization as necessary
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least 1-year of experience in Ophthalmology preferred
- COA, COT is a plus
- Detail oriented; reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible schedule working Monday-Friday

Surgical Scrub Technician

Overview
As a Surgery Scrub Technician, your strong detail orientation and multi-tasking skills will be valuable in our fast-paced, high-volume environment. You will utilize your knowledge and skills to support all surgeries including pre-op preparation, patient transportation, sterilization, patient discharge, as well as other support duties.
Responsibilities
- Prepares operating room for surgery, including gathering equipment and supplies, ensuring the operating room is in working order and sterilized for surgery
- Assists with washing, shaving and disinfecting of the surgical site
- Sets up and maintains the sterile field maintaining sterile technique at all times
- Assists with draping, sponging, retracting, passing sterile instruments and sterile supplies to the surgeon, cut sutures, and perform other duties as requested by the surgeon
- Supports the surgeon by anticipating needs and have all necessary equipment and instruments available
- Assists in the care or disposal of specimens and wound dressing
- Helps with the transfer of the patient to and from the operating room
- Supports the front desk with answering phones, pulling charts, and other clerical tasks as needed
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program
- Experience working in a surgical environment; Ophthalmology experience is a plus
- Detail oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Overview
As an Optician, customer service is priority one! You’ll assist patients with selecting and ordering eyewear, adjustments and fittings, and educating on proper eyeglass and contact lens care. Your initiative and organizational skills will keep us running at top performance, while your enthusiasm and knowledge will provide an exceptional patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Interprets prescription and helps patients choose appropriate eyewear, consulting with prescribing physicians as appropriate
- Takes optical measurements necessary for eyewear preparation
- Orders eyewear from laboratory based on prescription and patient preference
- Performs quality inspection of lenses and frames
- Adjusts eyewear to patient using appropriate tools and instruct on cleaning and handling
- Makes any necessary repairs using appropriate parts and tools
- Maintains equipment and inventory of supplies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Previous optical experience preferred; willing to train if eager to learn
- ABO and NCLE is a plus, will be required within 6 months of hire
- Licensed Dispensing Optician (LDO) is a plus
- Detailed oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including Word and Excel

Overview
As an Ophthalmology RN, your strong detail orientation and multi-tasking skills will be essential in our fast-paced, high-volume environment. You will provide a safe and efficient environment for all patients in our Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) during the perioperative phases
Responsibilities
- Greets and admit patients to the pre-/post-operative area
- Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care using the nursing process and take into account individual patient needs
- Prepares operating suite for patients – monitor cleanliness, assemble supplies, instruments and sutures, check equipment for proper functioning
- Assesses patient’s condition on arrival in surgery and provide physical or emotional support as needed
- Assists Anesthesia Provider and Surgeon during procedures, maintaining constant awareness of the operative situation and a safe environment for patients and personnel
- Evaluates, observes, and treats patients under local anesthesia
- Maintains accurate and complete records of patients’ surgical experience
- Starts IVs, gives medications, and prepares drugs and solutions per physician protocols
- Prepares for and manages immediate postoperative care, including transporting patients to recovery room, communicating patient needs, and providing patient and family training
- Assists in orientation of new team members and cross-training of existing personnel
- Obtains patient history through interviews and evaluations, noting data in chart and sharing pertinent information with physician
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree required; BSN preferred
- Current Arizona RN License
- 1-year Ophthalmology experience as a Surgery RN is a plus
- BLS certification required
- ASC experience preferred
- Bilingual preferred
- Detailed oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Overview
As a Scribe, you will work with our providers by documenting information into Electronic Health Record and gather important medical information from the patient, perform preliminary tests, and gather measurements while providing highest quality of care and an exceptional patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Scribes for the provider by coding and documenting the dictated information into the patient’s electronic medical record (EHR)
- Reviews patient visit details and preliminary work-up completed by Ophthalmic Technician to ensure completeness and accuracy prior to the provider exam
- Fills patient rooms as needed
- Reviews provider’s schedules to confirm patients are scheduled correctly
- Ensures the patient’s visit flows smoothly with the provider in the appropriate amount of time
- Generates medication prescriptions as directed from the provider through Erx
- Educates patients on ophthalmic conditions and consent for procedures and surgery
- Performs pretests including Goldmann Tonometry, extra-ocular muscle evaluation, confrontational visual fields, refractions, and lensometry as needed
- Communicates any clinic flow concerns with facilitator and management
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- COA, COT preferred
- Ophthalmology experience is a plus
- General knowledge of clinical and surgical procedure requirements
- Strong computer skills
